GUWAHATI, Sept 6 � Teacher�s Day celebration was held at Matri Mandir premises here on September 5.

Matri Mandir is a specialised adoption agency that also looks after the underprivileged and abandoned babies. It also imparts value-based education to the children of nearby localities through its special extra-curricular class.

Dr Papori Sharma, Professor of Arya Vidyapith College was invited as a distinguished guest on the occasion of Teacher�s Day celebrations. BP Saraf, managing trustee and all the children and staff of the organisation took part enthusiastically in the programme.

Since September 1, a pre-school programme for under privileged children has also been started at Matri Mandir which is free and open for children between two to five years of age. At present, some students from the neighbouring localities attend the facility. These students, along with their guardians also attended the Teacher�s Day celebrations, stated a press note.
