GUWAHATI, Sept 3 - State Education Minister Sarat Borkotoky today said that the transfer policy of school teachers was anomalous and that it would soon be thoroughly reviewed.
Borkotoky, who was addressing a press conference, said woman candidates would be given preference in matters of transfer. �It is true that the teachers� transfer policy has drawbacks and needs to be changed. We are going to streamline the system with thrust on accommodating the needs of woman teachers in particular,� he said.
Borkotoky added that the State Government had no proposal for creating new posts of teachers and that appointments would be made only against vacancies.
On the demands of various groups of agitating teachers, Borkotoky said that State Government is sympathetic to the needs of the teaching fraternity and that it would resolve all the contentious issues through dialogue and effective action on the ground.
