Teach deceitful BJP a lesson: Cong to voters

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Nov 28 - APCC spokesman Rhituparna Konwar today appealed to the people of the State to teach the BJP a lesson for its deceitful activities on the issues concerning the foreign nationals and the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, in the ensuing panchayat elections.

The APCC spokesman said in a statement here that the BJP is also maintaining a double standard on the issue of corruption. While Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal is repeatedly declaring that the State government would not tolerate any corruption in public life, many leaders of his party are indulging in various types of corruption and the Chief Minister is maintaining silence on such nefarious activities of those party leaders.

In this connection, the APCC spokesman pointed to the fact that a large section of the States media has been reporting that Margherita MLA of the BJP is leading a syndicate in illegal coal mining and supply in Margherita area and this has posed a serious threat to the ecological balance of the areas adjacent to the sites where such mining activities are going on.

Environmental pollution caused by such activities has posed serious threats to the people living in Ledu, Tipang, Bargolai and other areas and the Dihing Patkai forest area is on the verge of being obliterated. But the Chief Minister is turning a blind eye to all such activities, Konwar alleged.
