Tea garden set to figure in Arunachal tourism map

By The Assam Tribune

ITANAGAR, March 1 A private tea garden in a remote location of Arunachal Pradesh is all set to emerge as the latest tourist destination in the scenic Himalayan State, official sources said.

The Siru-Rijo Tea Garden Company Private Limited, located 5 km from Gankak village in West Siang district, is all set to figure on the States tourist map thanks to the untiring efforts of Yajum and Tugo Gangkak, a couple who began their dream mission way back in 1995.

Nestled atop a hill, the tea estate can be reached after a 17 km drive on the winding hilly road surrounded by lush green forests and mountain springs.

The guest house, equipped with all modern amenities like round-the-clock water and electricity, is slated for inauguration by the State Power Minister Jarbom Gamlin on March 7.

The fully equipped factory of the garden will be inaugurated on the same day by Gojen Gadi, Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism.

We look at the event ahead from the tourism perspective and it emits a ray of optimism to put the place on the tourism map of the district and State as two stalwarts of the department are gracing it and hectic preparations are on to give a befitting reception, Tugo Gangkak said.

The tea garden has a private helipad, a mini hydel project, sugarcane factory, poultry, small scale industry, saw mill, fishery, shops, cottages and barracks to accommodate about 600 people. PTI
