Tea cos asked to pay 20% puja bonus

GUWAHATI, Oct 3 - Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today asked all the tea companies to pay 20 per cent puja bonus to the tea workers, said an official press release.

The Chief Minister maintained that this (20 per cent bonus) is the tea workers� due. He added, �It is our duty to see that the tea workers� interests are protected and they get their due in time.�

The Chief Minister further said the tea companies, which have not decided as yet to pay 20 per cent bonus, should make their stand clear to avoid any unrest or resentment.

He also said that the State-owned Assam Tea Corporation Limited has already committed to pay 20 per cent bonus to its workers.
