JORHAT, Jan 14 � Tarun Sabhapandit, the oldest active sports organiser at 89 was felicitated by the Nripendra Narayan Singha Trust at Kushal Konwar Indoor Stadium here on Wednesday. Along with the Trust, more than 30 sports organisations also honoured Sabhapandit who dedicated his life for the development of sports.
Central Minister Bijoy Krishna Handique, who is also the president of the Trust, handed over a cheque of Rs 30,000 to Sabhapandit along with other gifts and a citation.
Nripendra Narayan Singha, who has been the most dedicated sportsperson in the State, was also present on the occasion. Singha was also feted on the occasion. Dr Tapan Dutta, secretary of the Trust, gave details about the organisation and their moto. It is for the fourth consecutive year that the Trust is honouring sports organisers of the State.
