Talks between Ramdev, ministers fail

By The Assam Tribune

NEW DELHI, June 3 (IANS): Talks between union ministers Kapil Sibal and Subodh Kant Sahay with Baba Ramdev over the yoga guru's proposed fast against corruption from Saturday, failed to achieve a breakthrough Friday despite early indications that a compromise formula is emerging.

According to sources, no compromise could be reached as Ramdev insisted on going ahead with his plan for the fast at the Ramlila Ground from Saturday.

Though the government gave written answers to the issues raised by Ramdev, an agreement could not be reached, Sibal told reporters after the four-hour talks ended in a Delhi hotel.

"I have no idea about his plans," Sibal said when asked whether Ramdev will be permitted to hold his fast.

A spokesman for Ramdev said the answers given by the government were unsatisfactory.

The talks were held at Claridges Hotel from 2 p.m.
