Talk on demonetisation at Golaghat Commerce College

DERGAON, Dec 2 - A discussion on the topic of �Demonetisation Policy of the Government of India and its Effects� was organised by Golaghat Commerce College on November 25.

The discussion was organised by the Department of Economics of the college with a view to share the views of the teachers on the issue. The discussion was attended by a large gathering. Chaired by the Vice-Principal of the college, Prasanna Kumar Barthakur, it was moderated by the HoD of Economics, Moonmoni Baruah.

In her introductory speech, she highlighted the basic issue of demonetisation and urged all the participants to discuss the subject in detail. Through the keynote address, the chairperson pointed out the situation arising out of huge circulation of black money, fake currency and parallel economy in the country.

Altogether, six teachers of various departments of the college, namely Lakhidhar Saikia, Anup Kumar Das, Rajesh Jaiswal, Julfique Ara Begum, Atul Kumar Das and Suchibrota Chelleng took part in the discussion and discussed the topic in detail. Taking part in the discussion, the principal of the college, Dr Jatindra Nath Saikia also shared his views on the topic.

Finally, the house was of the opinion that though there may be some initial difficulties among the common people, but the policy of demonetisation will infuse a new lease of life into the Indian economy in the near future.
