Talk on Assamese music held

DIBRUGARH, April 12 - A talk on �Assamese music: A colourful journey� was organised by the Department of Assamese in association with Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and women cell Dhaarini at DHSK Commerce College here yesterday.

Noted researcher of Assamese folk-culture Dr Anil Saikia spoke on folk and Satriya music as well as Assamese modern songs to explain the journey of music.

The programme was presided over by Dr KM Bhagawati, Principal of the college. Pulin Rajbangshi, Associate Professor and Vice Principal of the institution was also present among other dignitaries.

Prizes and certificates were also distributed to the winners of the essay competition organised jointly by the Department of Assamese and College NCC unit. The prize distribution programme was anchored by Luku Morang, faculty, Department of Assamese and CTO, College NCC unit.

Nabajyoti Dutta, faculty of the Department of Assamese spoke on the objective of the programme, while Dr Tanka Prasad Upadhyay, Coordinator, IQAC and Associate Professor, Banking & Insurance, delivered the vote of thanks.
