Talk on �Art of becoming a Scientist� organised

GUWAHATI, Sept 19 - A daylong popular talk on �The Art of becoming a Scientist: Journey of a Lifetime� was held at Jawaharlal Nehru College, Boko, Kamrup recently.

The talk was organised by the participating departments under DBT Star College Scheme, in collaboration with Advanced Level Institutional Biotech Hub of JN College, Boko. The talk was delivered by Dr Uday Kishore, Professor, Dept of Bioscience, Brunel University, London. Prof Jogen Chandra Kalita, Coordinator of International Relation, Gauhati University, and Prof MM Goswami, president, governing body, attended the talk as special guests, a press release said.

A total of approximately 250 participants, including, Dr N Goswami, Principal of the college, all the faculty members, research scholars and the students from the science faculty of the college attended the talk.

The talk aimed at providing an inside of the life and journey of a common man towards becoming a renowned scientist, with the objective of sharing experience, information and knowledge about pursuing career in research field. The motive of the talk, as well as the speaker, was to inspire young minds to work harder with sincerity towards their goal, irrespective of their field of interest.

The meeting started with a briefing by the programme coordinator of DBT Star College Scheme, who is also the coordinator of Advanced Level Biotech Hub, Dr Tapan Dutta, followed by an introductory note on the speaker by Prof JC Kalita.

At the end of the talk, the speaker, Dr Uday Kishore, interacted with the students regarding their various queries related to science and scientific journey. A number of students and research scholars raised their questions and doubts which were answered by the speaker.
