By Correspondent

TINSUKIA, June 28 Enraged over the bilateral deal with the Bangladesh over easing of visa process for visitors from Bangladesh and the land swap deal with it by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA Government, the Tinsukia district committee of the All Tai Ahom Students Union (ATASU) burnt the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Minister of State, with Independent Charge for Sports, etc., Sarbananda Sonowal at Thana Chariali here today.

Flaying the decisions of the present Central government, the student body stated that BJP had promised before the General Election that Bangladeshis would be deported from Assam, but after coming to power, the party is now conspiring not only to ensure the security of the foreign nationals but to open the doors for the entry of more Bangladeshis.

The student body also questioned the integrity of Sarbananda Sonowal, saying that after becoming a minister, Sonowal had forgotten his promise of deporting the foreign nationals and is now working against the interest of Assam and its people. The student body also threatened that if the BJP government does not change its decision on visa as well as the land swap deal with Bangladesh than it would start an agitation for deportation of BJP along with Bangladeshis from Assam.
