Swift police action leads to recovery of stolen vehicle

By ANN Service

JORABAT, April 19 - In a daring act, vehicle lifters took away a ten-wheeler truck from NH-37 at 9th Mile today. Luckily though, the vehicle was soon recovered by Jorabat police.

According to the helper of the truck, a group of young boys demanded parking fee from him. The driver was not on the spot then. While one of the boys engaged the helper in a conversation a few metres away from the truck, the others fled away with the vehicle.

Soon after the driver arrived on the spot, the duo rushed to the Jorabat Police Outpost and reported the incident.

Not wasting any time, Jorabat Police Outpost in-charge Partha Pratim Gogoi split his police force into two teams. While his team headed towards Khetri, the other team headed by ASI Paban Barman rushed towards Meghalaya.

Swift action by the police led to recovery of the truck in just half-an-hour from a petrol depot at 17th Mile.
