DERGAON, Feb 14 � A Swachh Bharat campaign was undertaken by NCC cadets of the DKD College here under the 9th Assam Battalion and 64th Assam (G) Battalion of the NCC Group Headquarters, Jorhat, on Tuesday.

In the daylong programme, 55 boys and 16 girls cadets took part under the guidance of Captain Dr Minuara Begum and Lt Dr Pranjal Pratim Kakoti. They visited five major hotels of Dergaon town. During the visit, the cadets explained the facts regarding the necessity of cleanliness in hotels, etc., to the employees as well as customers of the hotels.

They urged the owners of the hotels to maintain proper hygiene and sanitation in their hotels. The cadets also visited the college mess and interacted with the boarders on issues of health, hygiene and sanitation.

The girl cadets urged the local vendors to maintain personal hygiene and provide clean and healthy food items to customers. The cadets resolved to carry out such campaigns on a regular basis in the near future.

The cadets condoled the demise of noted sports organiser, retired principal of Dergaon HS School and former officer-in-charge of the NCC, Guna Kanta Sarmah Baruah, who passed away on February 8.
