GUWAHATI, Feb 25 � Various trade unions and motor workers� association have extended their support to the nationwide general strike and chakka bandh called on February 28 to protest against the anti-worker and anti-people policies of the Union government.
Expressing their solidarity, the All Guwahati Trekker Driver Union appealed all the trekker drivers of greater Guwahati area to go on strike on that day to protest against the unabated prices of essential commodities, absence of welfare schemes for trekker drivers, lack of security for the drivers etc. The Sodou Asom Tourist Taxi Chalak Santha has also extended its support to the bandh, a statement said. All Assam Chapasal Karmachari Santha and All Assam NREGA Workers� Union have also extended support to the strike.
