BONGAIGAON, Aug 9 - A group of miscreants, allegedly led by a fair price shop dealer attacked a supply inspector, a BJP leader and a scribe at Besimari under Jogighopa Police Station in Bongaigaon district this afternoon.

On the basis of public reports, a local BJP leader of the Minority Morcha, Bulbul Hussain had complained to the SDO (Civil) of North Salmara subdivision, about a huge quantity of PDS rice being illegally stocked by dealer Ainal Haque at a madrassa at Besimari in Jogighopa area to sell it in the black market.

Accordingly, the SDO instructed Supply Inspector Kalidas Debnath to inquire into the complaint.

Debnath on reaching the Besimari madrassa this afternoon, found its main gate locked. He then called up Bulbul Hussain. By that time, three media persons had also reached there before Bulbuls arrival. Ainal who came to the spot started quarrelling with Bulbul and then his goons physically assaulted Bulbul, Supply Inspector Debnath and local scribe Tinku Chandra Das.

Debnath has lodged a report at Jogighopa PS against Ainal and his goons. According to the local people, Ainal had stocked 26 quintals of PDS rice in the madrassa to sell it in the black market. The Greater Bongaigaon Press Club has condemned the attack on the mediapersons and demanded that the administration take strong action against the attackers.
