Sunrise Youth Club to hoist 3.5-km-long National Flag at Baksa

GORESWAR, Aug 11 - An NGO, Sunrise Youth Club of Uparkhuti village under Goreswar circle office in Baksa district is trying to create a world record by hoisting National Flag in a different manner. The members of the youth club are now busy in sewing the Tricolour which is 3.5 km long and 6 feet wide. The members are sewing the National Flag from July 1 last with six sewing machines. Altogether four tailor families are sewing the flag day and night to prepare it before Independence Day.

Talking to this correspondent, Krishnaraj Sangrola, the adviser, Bapan Das, the president, Ranjan Sarma, the secretary of the Sunrise Youth Club informed that to create patriotism among the new generation and to offer respect to Assam pride Hima Das, such a step was conceptualised to celebrate Independence Day. The members of the Sunrise youth club will take out a procession hoisting the Tricolour on the Guwahati-Goreswar-Bogamati PWD road with the local public to spread the message of universal love. They also informed that 80 per cent of the flag has already been prepared.

It may be mentioned here that once a 3.3-km-long National Flag was hoisted in the country. The national flag made by the Sunrise Youth Club will longer than the previous one. The members expect that it will feature in the Guinness Book.

On the other hand, security has been beefed up in the district in order to ensure an incident- free Independence Day celebration. Security personnel are also conducting regular checking of vehicles especially in the evening and at night.
