GUWAHATI, Dec 5 - PWD Minister Parimal Suklabaidya has directed senior officials of his department to carry out inspection of the ongoing and completed roads projects in the city.
The exercise began today, with a team led by Chief Engineer Dibyajyoti Saharia inspecting the roads under City I Division.
�We have prepared a list of roads where schemes have been taken up. Under the flood mitigation project 53 schemes were taken up, of which 28 have been completed. Under road maintenance schemes, 215 projects were taken up, of which 125 have been completed,� Saharia said.
�We will conduct random checks by visiting the sites. There has been no major complaint from anywhere so far. In a few cases there are issues about bigger stone size and disintegration. Necessary action is being taken to address them,� he said.
The inspection teams will also check the quality of the block roads and drainage systems. Teams of the Road Research Unit will also conduct checks.
While the inspection teams will also cover the other three divisions � City II, City III and North Guwahati Road Division � sources said the PWD Minister would also undertake inspection drives himself.
