JORHAT, July 5 � Taking stock of the progress of the construction and decoration of the Sukapha Samannay Kshetra at Mohbandha near Dergaon, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Saturday indicated that the remaining work is expected to be completed in the next four months and Sukapha Divas will be centrally observed on the premises on December 2 this year.
In recognition of the 600 years of Ahom rule in Assam, the mega project is designed to be the one of the most attractive places for visitors of the country and abroad. It is also expected to showcase the history of assimilation of various people belonging to different castes, creeds and ethnic-identities of the State.
The Chief Minister hoped that the Sukapha Samannay Kshetra will be recognised as a famous complex not only in the State but across the country also.
In another programme, he inaugurated a newly-constructed building of the Handloom and Textile Department near the circle officers� office beside the Na-Ali Mahatma Gandhi Path in the city.
Participating in the silver jubilee function of a Titabar-based private educational institution, Pragjyotika College on Friday, Gogoi offered financial help to two brilliant students who brought accolades to the locality by bagging the second and 10th position respectively in high secondary final examinations.
At another programme at the Titabor office of the Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha on Friday, 26 students of the tea tribe community were provided financial aid by the Chief Minister.
