Succour for flood-hit people

GUWAHATI, Nov 23 � The Gauhati Division Insurance Employees� Association organised a flood-relief distribution programme on November 20 at Dirima and Mouchowa near Boko of Kamrup district, a press release stated.

The residents of the two villages suffered a lot due to flash floods, following cloud burst in the last part of September. A delegation led by Birendra Kumar Sarma and Bhabendra Kumar Kalita, president and general secretary, respectively distributed two pieces of blankets, one mosquito net and one bedsheet to each family of the locality.

The All India Insurance Employees� Association released Rs 5,00,000 and the Eastern Zone Insurance Employees� Association released Rs 50,000 towards relief to the flood-hit people of Assam.

The DGIEA also collected relief materials from its members. The local Kishan Sabha extended help for smooth distribution of the relief materials.
