Sub junior football gets under way

GUWAHATI, Nov 17 - The 39th edition of the Sub Junior Inter District Football Championship for the Satindra Mohan Dev Trophy, got under way at Numaligarh today.

The tournament has been organised by the Bokakhat District Sports Association with support from Numaligarh Rifinery.

The matches are being played at the Numaligarh Refinery Township and Numaligarh HS School playgrounds. Altogether 10 teams have qualified for this final round of the championship.

The inaugural functions were held at the Numaligarh Refinery Township playground and Numaligarh HS School playground where Assam Football Association secretary Ankur Dutta, Bokakhat DSA secretary Sanjib Handique along with NRL officers were present. NRL General Manager SD Maheswari and Sanjib Handique kicked off the opening matches at township and Numaligarh respectively.

The final will be played on November 24.

The participating teams are: (Group A) Barpeta, Golaghat, Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Gossaigaon. (Group B) Dhakuakhana, Bokakhat, Bijni, Sivasagar, Silchar, stated a release issued here.

Today�s results: Bokakhat bt Dhakuakhana 5-0; Gossaigaon bt Golaghat 2-1; Nagaon bt Lakhimpur 6-2; Sivasagar bt Bijni 3-0.
