Students participate in Imphal mass rally

IMPHAL, July 5 - A mass rally was held as part of the observance of the 11th Disturbance-Free Educational Zone Demand Day, 2018, under the aegis of the Democratic Students� Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) here today.

Students from different schools and colleges took part in the rally, which was flagged off by State Education Minister Thokchom Radheshyam from the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.

The rally converged at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen in the Palace Compound, Imphal, for a public meeting which was attended by the Education Minister, Moirang MLA and the Government�s chief whip P Sharatchandra Singh, dignitaries, teachers, students and members of civil organisations.

Education Minister Radheshyam said that since 2008, there has been a high enrolment of children in schools. The increase has also been witnessed in government schools.

Informing that the Government would address the issues of shortage of teachers and construction of better schools, the minister stressed the need of a peaceful and vibrant atmosphere for the welfare of students. Other dignitaries also spoke on the occasion.
