Students� body forms new unit

TURA, Dec 13 - The Achik Students� Welfare Association (ASWA) announced the formation of a new unit in Dadengre of West Garo Hills to fight for the rights of the student community as well as for the betterment of Garo society.

In a release issued by the central administrative board of the association, the new unit would be led by Weastzephier M Marak as president and Ismail B Marak as general secretary. The release stated that the name of 14 members as part of the unit.

�The newly elected members of the ASWA-WZ, Dadenggre, are entrusted to work for the welfare of the students in particular and society in general in the western region, in a democratic manner,� said Environment Secretary Manrik Pantora A Sangma.

�They are committed to work hard to curb corruption and fight for quality education in Garo Hills,� he added.

�Education backwardness is one big reason for many law and order problems in Garo Hills. It is high time that the education system in Garo Hills be upgraded with proper guidance. The students must be shown the path to success and must be encouraged. The Government must also take the needs of the students� community seriously,� added Sangma.
