Strong room in school affects classes

By Correspondent

NAGAON, April 19 - Election-related works have hampered academic activities in Nowgong Government Boys HS School since February 13. The regular classes of the school were cancelled from February 13 to March 31 for the HSLC and the HS final examinations. Later, the school building was requisitioned by the district administration from April 1 for the Assembly elections. Now, the strong room is established on the school premises, depriving the children of school education for more than three months.

The students and guardians staged a protest against the Nagaon district administration in front of the school premises on Monday and later submitted a memorandum to district authority and Inspector of Schools, Nagaon in this regard.

The principal of the school, Dipika Lokor, said that there are sufficient rooms on school premises to continue classes without disturbing the strong room where the EVMs were kept. She added that the strong room was established in the last Parliament elections too, but their classes were not hampered.

It may be mentioned here that the District Magistrate of Nalbari allowed the Gurdon School to continue the classes where the strong room was also established. The guardians also urged the Deputy Commissioner of Nagaon, Adil Khan, to take a positive decision in the interest of the students of the school as well as for the future of the vernacular medium schools of the State.
