Strict rules set for Uzanbazar fish market

GUWAHATI, Oct 10 - The Kamrup Metro district administration has laid down some strict conditions for carrying out business in the Uzanbazar fish market.

As per an order issued by Dr M Angamuthu, a maximum of 10 fish-carrying vehicles shall be allowed in the market between midnight and 3 am every day.

Loading and unloading of fish will have to be done in a systematic manner and there should not be any disturbance to the local residents while loading and unloading.

The administration has also directed that proper disposal of waste has to be done every day and cleanliness and hygiene must be maintained in the marketplace.

Washing of vehicles and fish on the road has also been prohibited.

The order stated that Brihattar Uzanbazar Scheduled Caste Unemployed Fish Traders� Association will monitor and supervise the compliance of the conditions.

The latest directive comes a few days after the district administration said that wholesale business cannot be carried out in the market and the place is reserved only for retail sale of fish.
