�Stop harassing Koch-Rajbongshis�

KALAIGAON, April 17 - The AKRSU Udalguri district committee has criticized the police and Army personnel stationed in the district for harassing innocent people of the community during operations against members of extremist outfits.

In a press release, Dibyajyoti Deka, president and Ananda Saikia, secretary of AKRSU, Udalguri district committee have demanded the Udalguri police and Army personnel stationed in the district to refrain from harassing innocent Koch-Rajbongshi people during operations against ULFA or NDFB militants. They have also condemned arrests of several people of the community in may instances.

According to them, many youths had to flee their homes for fear of apprehension by the Army and police. AKRSU also urged the Army and police to stop forcing innocent people to divulge information of extremist groups.

�If the harassment against Koch-Rajbongshi people continues, we will launch a democratic movement against Udalguri district administration,� the press release added.
