Stones pelted on Rakibul, Huda�s convoys at Samaguri

NAGAON, May 29 - In a post-poll incident of violence, former Congress minister and sitting MLA of Samaguri constituency, Rakibul Hussain and MLA, Rupahihat constituency, Nurul Huda as well as their convoys today faced a massive attack from some alleged supporters of the ruling saffron party near Boroma bazaar in Samaguri LAC when the former were on their way to attend a party rally at Singimari village. In the attack, the driver of MLA Nurul Huda, one of his PSOs and one other person was injured. Four vehicles including those of Hussain and Huda were damaged in the stone pelting allegedly by some suspected BJP supporters.

According to police sources, three cross FIRs were lodged � one by the MLA of Rupahihat, the other two by an injured PSO to Huda, Basir Uddin and a BJP supporter Mazibur Rahman, in Samaguri police station in this regard and police has registered all those three FIRs.

Speaking to this correspondent about the incident, Officer in charge, Samaguri, PS, Jibon P Marak said that the police received three FIRs in connection with the incident and all those three had been registered in the station and police would act accordingly after examining all supporting witnesses. He said that the preliminary ground level investigation was on and the legal proceedings would be taken as early as possible.

Meanwhile, following the incident, Rakibul Hussain and Nurul Huda addressed a press conference at Nagaon�s Rajiv Bhavan and alleged that some criminals who are working for the ruling party, are being used continuously to attack him and their other party workers in Samaguri so that he does not move around freely in his constituency. He claimed that in the sudden attack, their vehicles (AS01DN 2086, AS01AB9494, AS01VA 1706 and AS02KA 8035) were damaged and driver Boluram Das, Jiur Rahman and a PSO were injured.

Nurul Huda, MLA, Rupahihat at the same press conference said that such an attack was a massive threat to the country�s democracy.
