Stir for Bodoland hots up

BONGAIGAON, Aug 8 - The Bodoland Movement Group staged a three-hour sit-in-demonstration near the Deputy Commissioner's office at Kajalgaon today for creation of �Bodoland'.

The movement group comprising All Bodo Students� Union (ABSU), National Democratic Front of Boroland (Progressive) and People's Joint Action Committee for Bodoland Movement sent memoranda to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah through the Deputy Commissioner after the demonstration.

The movement group reminded Prime Minister Modi of his pre-election promise during 2014 about creation of separate Bodoland.

"If the government can bifurcate a State into Union Territories then it should create a separate Bodoland,� said ABSU's Chirang District unit president Khanindra Basumatary.

ABSU's Chirang district unit general secretary Dilip Basumatary appealed to the people to be ready for a vigorous agitation for Bodoland.

Udalguri Correspondent adds: The All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU), National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB-P) and People's Joint Action Committee for Bodoland Movement today staged a three-hour dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner office here demanding creation of a separate State. Later, the members submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister through the Deputy Commissioner.
