By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, March 28 A joint delegation of eight organisations today alleged before Governor JB Patnaik that the State Government led by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has failed to protect the State's territory and provide security to the life and property of the people in Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts.

An AASU press release said here this evening that the joint delegation, which comprised the representatives of the All Assam Students' Union (AASU), All Dimasa Students' Union (ADSU), Karbi Students' Association (KSA), All Assam Gorkha Students' Union (AAGSU), Karbi Students and Youth Council (KSYC), Dimasa People's Council (DPC), Karbi Riso Adrbar (KRA), Karbi Anglong Khilinjia Yuba Santha (KAIYA), submitted a memorandum to the Governor.

In their memorandum, they alleged that the State Government has failed to protect the territory of the State from Nagaland encroachment. The people living in the Assam-Nagaland border areas of the two districts have become susceptible to the attacks. Their life and property are insecure.

They demanded effective steps to protect State's territory from Nagaland encroachment, steps to ensure security of the life and property of the Assam people living in the interstate border areas of the two districts; steps to ensure water and power supply, provide proper health care facilities, and to establish schools in these areas.

They also called for steps to set up Government offices in these areas.

The Governor assured steps to fulfill the above demands. He also assured the delegation that he would talk to his Nagaland counterpart on the issue and the Home Secretary, Director General of Police of the State too to ensure restoration of peace in these areas, said the press release.
