By Correspondent

DIPHU, April 3 - Elected leaders most often become newsmakers for their alleged negligence in fulfilling the basic minimum needs of the electorate but some do get appreciated by the populace of his or her constituency; but in this case the leader was not only praised by the elders but also earned the respect of the children.

The School Managing Committee and the suffering students of Malasi Govt ME School located near Kaziranga (within Karbi Anglong district) expressed their gratefulness to Member of Autonomous Council of Duarbagori constituency Richard Tokbi for taking prompt action for restoring the school building which got smashed after a tree fell over it in the month of January.

In another instance, villagers of Kangdir Teron, Phangcho Arong, Korlangso and conveyed their gratefulness to their local MAC for constructing a 40-metre-long RCC walkway suspension bridge over Diflu river. The villagers said that from now on they will be able to cross over the river easily during floods and throughout the rainy season.

The school managing committee and the students articulated their appreciation for Tokbi confirming that leaders like him are very much desirable for the society. In todays world, we need leaders who are at all times ready to go ahead and stand to fight against all possible injustices, one of the members of the managing committee said.

.It will be easier for us to transport goods and groceries. The school children will also be able to cross over the river without drenching themselves unlike earlier. Now we also need not worry when someone gets sick since it will be easier to take patients to the rural hospital. The footbridge granted by our leader Tokbi is a solid gift for all of us, the villagers said.
