Step to simplify fund release process

GUWAHATI, Oct 12 � The State�s Council of Ministers, at a meeting here today, asked the Finance Department to maintain flexibility in releasing the State Plan amounts budgeted by the departments, official sources here said.

The Department was also asked to delegate the powers to the departments concerned for release of the amounts in excess of Rs 5 crore and lower than the sum of Rs 10 crore, against the schemes and thus to relieve the departments of the obligation of referring such matters to the Finance Department.

The meeting presided over by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, decided to constitute a Government committee shortly on the issue of making the Finance Department flexible in relation to the State Plan matters.

It also asked all the departments to submit their proposals for their schemes worth beyond Rs 10 crore to the Finance Department by January 15 next for its sanction for the financial year, sources said.

The Chief Minister later told mediapersons that the process of release of funds would be simplified now on and the Ministers concerned have been asked to monitor implementation of their respective departmental schemes.
