Statues of five luminaries at Bezbaruah Park, Sivasagar to be unveiled on June 29

SIVASAGAR, May 26 - Larger than life statues of the first president of Asam Sahitya Sabha Padmanath Gohain Baruah, �bhashar uza� Hem Chandra Baruah, first secretary of the sabha Sarat Chandra Goswami, �sudhakantha� Dr Bhupen Hazarika and famous writer Mamoni Roysom Goswami together, installed in a huge plate form at the Lakshminath Bezbaroa Park, Sivasagar will be unveiled through a meeting on June 29 next.

Speaking at a meeting held near the statues, Juga Gogoi ,secretary of the Sabha�s Sivasagar Centenary Session Reception Committee, informed the committee members that proposed ONGC grant of Rs 12 lakh is exclusively for the construction of the statues and the committee has to raise the expenditure of the installation ceremony, the cost of the huge platform and the ten feet wall at the back which would require a big amount.

Dilip Buragohain, president, Sivasagar district Sahitya Sabha, called upon the members to donate voluntarily as the installation of the statues will have a lasting impact on the mind of the coming generations. The meeting was also addressed by Mridusmita Sinha, Chairperson, Sivasagar Municipality Board, Dr Prakash Kotoky, treasurer of Sabha Reception Committee, Vinowa Taye, secretary, Zila Sahitya Sabha, Manoj Kumar Borthakur, president, Rongpur Sahity Sabha, Dembi Patir, vice president, All India SC & ST ONGC Employees� Association, Kamal Chiring Phukan, Sontosh Dutta, Ram Nayak and Moromi Nayak.
