GUWAHATI, Nov 4 - As part of a series of road shows on foreign turf to attract international tourists, the State tourism department organised the second road show in Barcelona on November 3, where more than 30 leading tour operators and other stakeholders of the tourism fraternity of Barcelona took part.
The first such event was organised in Rome on October 31.
Speaking on the occasion, Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) Chairman Jayanta Malla Baruah apprised the tour operators and other stakeholders present, of the plethora of tourism opportunities available in Assam that include wildlife and adventure tourism.
ATDC MD Bhaskar Phukan gave a presentation on �Assam Tourism� showcasing the tourist destinations of Assam before the gathering. This was followed by a cultural programme performed by popular artistes of Assam. The cultural team was led by Sudarshan Thakur, secretary, Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra.
�The tourism industry stakeholders, including the tour operators took part in a lively interactive session, where queries on tourism in Assam were answered. The road show generated immense interest amongst the stakeholders present as it was found that they were largely ignorant about Assam as a tourist destination,� the ATDC Chairman said.
