GUWAHATI, Oct 17 - The State Sports Day, on the occasion of the RG Baruah�s birth anniversary, was observed in the State today.
The State Directorate of Sports and Board of Sports, Assam observed the day with various programmes in the RG Baruah Sports Complex here.
A memorial lecture was organised on the occasion where Director of Sports Anjan Sarma, eminent journalist Premadhar Sharma, SAI Regional Sub centre Director Subhash Basumatary and others recalled RG Baruah�s contribution in building the modern Assam. Premadhar Sharma, who had been a leading sports journalist of the State, explained how RG took initiative in setting up the Nehru Stadium at the dumping ground of the GMC overcoming all the odds.
