State scientists� bid to place satellite in space

GUWAHATI, July 11 � A group of scientists of the State is engaged in an ambitious plan to develop a micro/nano satellite with the involvement of the State�s students and to launch it at an orbit of around 700 km above the Earth�s surface so that it could complete one round around our planet in an hour and a half.

The group plans to engage engineering students to design and build the satellite and science stream students to design the scientific experiments to be performed in space.

The project, being initiated by the NETES Institute of Technology and Science (NITS) Mirza for the State�s students, is expected to be sponsored by some public sector industrial units.

Disclosing this, North East Technical Education Society (NETES) president Dr Anup Kumar Gogoi and NITS Mirza principal Dr AK Baruwa told this correspondent that the concept of the whole project is being visualized and invitations shortly will be extended to the State�s students seeking their participation in the project.

The name proposed for the project is � �Aero Satellite and Space Craft Project of Assam Students,� said Dr Gogoi and Dr Baruwa.
