GUWAHATI, Aug 13 � Assam Boat Racing and Rowing Association (ABRRA) today felicitated Assam school team rowers who won medals in the recently concluded Asian School Rowing Championship at Chennai.

Assam rowers Jishnu Jibon Barua of city based Maria�s Public School and Nafisa Sadiq of Sarla Birla Gyan Jyoti won bronze medals in single scull events of boys and girls sections respectively. The State rowing body offered cash award of Rs 5000 each to the rowers and their coach Dipak Teron in a function held here today.

Apart from Assam, school teams from Sri Lanka, Pakistan and other part of India took part in the championship.

Later ABRRA acting president Tridip Sarma and secretary Nababuddin Ahmed urged the sports department of State government to hand over the equipment to them and develop the Deepor Bill course at the earliest so that State rowers can have their work-out there.
