State police stations to be computerised: DGP

NAGAON, July 29 � All the police stations of the state will be fully computerised and equipped with modern SMS system, informed Director General of Police Sankar Baruah while distributing medals to police personnel for exemplary service at a function here today.

DGP Baruah further said there are about 2000 vacant posts in the police department which would be filled up very soon and 2600 police personnel were sent for computer training.

The function was held in the Police Reserve auditorium where DIG Prabin Saikia, Nagaon DC Dr M Angamathu, Nagaon SP Surendra Kumar, CRPF Commandant HS Mall, SPs of Morigaon, Karbi Anglong, Golaghat and commandants of different battalions of the region were present.

The police personnel who were selected for medals included Addl SP Morigaon Rup Kishore Handiqui, constable Rajib Hazarika of Dergaon, Joydeep Roy, photographer of Nagaon, Nareswar Bardalai, constable of Dergaon, constable of 16th Assam Bn Brajen Chetia, Jibesh Ch Raipradhani and Pabitra Gogoi of PRC.
