State mountaineers climb Mt Everest

GUWAHATI, May 21 - Assam mountaineer Naba Phukan of Sepon, Sivasagar, climbed the Mount Everest yesterday.

Earlier, three members of the Assam Mountaineering Association (AMA) also climbed the peak on May 19.

Khorsing Terang, Henry David Teran and Nanda Dulal Das scaled the 29,035 ft world�s highest peak. Stating this an AMA release said, another two members � Manash Barooah (Leader) and Upen Chakravarty (Dy Leader) � are on their way for the summit. The sixth team member, Dr Jagadish Basumatary, is coordinating with the team from the Everest base camp.

Tarun Saikia and Manish Deka earlier climbed the peak in 2013.
