State medal-winning archers felecitated

GUWAHATI, March 2 � The Archery Association of Assam today accorded warm felicitation to the State archers who won medals in different national championships and the recently concluded 34th National Games.

In a felicitation function at SAI regional sub-centre indoor stadium here, the State archery body honoured successful archers in the national sub-junior, junior and senior championships held in different places of the country and the medal winners in the Jharkhand National Games.

State archery body president Jayanta Boro, Director of Sports Sanjib Gohain Baruah, SAI city centre Director in-charge Subhash Basumatary, veteran journalist Premadhar Sharma, Assam Olympic Association treasurer Raj Kakoti, deputy director of sports Pradip Hazarika were present as guests on the occasion.

Prativa Boro and Khonsai Bargayari won gold medals in the National Games while Sanjor Boro bagged a bronze medal in individual events. State women and men teams won silver and bronze respectively. The women team comprised of Pallabi Boro, Anima Basumatary, Kamini Boro and Anjali Basumatary. On the other hand, Dipali Boro, Belsri Narzary, Prativa Boro and Pratima Boro won bronze medal in women team event.

Jayanta Boro, Sanjib Gohain Baruah and Subhash Basumatary believe that if everything go on track, Assam will definitely have two archers in the Indian team for the 2012 London Olympics.

Prativa Boro and Sanjay Boro in particular are two most improved archers who defeated several top Indian archers in recent competitions.
