State-level science drama contest tomorrow

GUWAHATI, Oct 17 - The Regional Science Centre (RSC), Guwahati, is going to organise a State-level science drama competition on October 19 on its Khanapara premises.

The best drama team in the State-level competition will represent Assam in the North East zonal-level science drama competition to be held at the same venue on October 21.

The winner and runners-up of the North East zonal science drama competition will represent the North East in the National Science Drama Festival, which will be held at Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, Bangalore, on January 17.

The theme of the State-level competition is �Science and Society� and there are sub-themes like �Clean India: Healthy India�, �Food Security and Nutrition�, �Digital India: Power to Empower�, �Make in India�, �Green Energy� and �Life and Works of a Scientist�.

The State-level science drama competition is at the school level and is being organised to encourage the students, teachers and other science communicators to explore and experiment with the dramatic form as a means of communication.

Around 10 teams from different parts of Assam will participate in the State-level competition.

Later, six teams from different states of the North East will participate in the zonal-level event.

Each team comprising a maximum of eight students will stage their drama for a maximum of 30 minutes before a panel of judges and audience.

Dilip Kumar Das, Director of All India Radio (AIR) Guwahati, will be the chief guest during the prize-distribution ceremony on October 21.
