State-level HS teachers, employees� meet

BARPETA, Nov 3 � The 21st biennial convention of All Assam Higher Secondary School Teachers and Employees� Association will be held at Sarbhog in Barpeta district with a two-day programme starting from November 5.

According to information provided by Abdur Rouf, secretary of the 21st Barnagar convention reception committee, the registration of the delegates will commence at 8.30 am on November 5 and the delegates� camp will be inaugurated at 8.45 am by Hasan Ali, former Principal of Barnagar Jororam Pathak Higher Secondary School.

The flag of the association will be unfurled by Santola Basumatary, president of the association at 9 am, which will be followed by homage to the departed souls at 9.30 am by Uddhab Talukdar, former principal incharge of Barnagar JRP Higher Secondary School.

An executive committee meeting of the State-level body is scheduled to be held at 10.30 am and the gate of the delegates� hall will be declared open at 12 noon by Amarendra Goswami, Principal incharge of Barnagar Girls� Higher Secondary School. While the first and second session of the delegates� meet will be held at 12.15 pm and 4.30 pm respectively, the third session-cum-election for the new executive will be held at 9 pm.

A souvenir to be published on the ocassion will be formally released at 4.30 pm during the second session of the delegates� meet. A special cultural show to commemorate the death anniversary of Dr Bhupen Hazarika is scheduled to be held at 6 pm on that day. It will be inaugurated by Bhabananda Pathak, renowned naam artiste.

A painting competition will be held at 9 am on November 6. The open meet scheduled at 1 pm on the last day will be chaired by Santola Basumatary and will be inaugurated by Dr Siddhartha Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Barpeta district.

The Education Minister will participate in the meeting as the chief guest. Nur Mamud Hussain, chairman of the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council, Ramesh Kumar Jain, Education Secretary to the Government of Assam, and Babulal Sarma, Director of Secondary Education will also attend the meet.

In the meantime, Abdur Rouf has urged all the teachers and employees of all the higher secondary schools of the State to attend the convention. Besides, he has also appealed to all the political parties and organisations of the State not to call any bandh on November 5 and 6 so that delegates coming from various corners of the State may reach Sarbhog without any hindrance.
