State law-and-order scene reviewed

DIPHU, June 21 � A law-and-order review meeting chaired by State Chief Secretary Jitesh Khosla and attended by institutional heads of the Unified Command carrying out counter-insurgency operations in strife-torn parts of Assam, today took stock of the situation, after the recent ultra hostilities in the western part of Karbi Anglong district.

For security reasons, the venue of the high profile meeting was shifted from the Diphu Circuit House to the high security Assam Rifles Training Centre.

The meeting was attended by General Officer Commanding 4 Corps AK Ahuja, State Director General of Police Khagen Sarma, Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao, DIG Central Range, Commandants of CRPF, State Home Commissioner GD Tripathi, Commissioner of Hills and Barak Valley Santanu Thakur and all SDOs(C) of both the hill districts.

�The meeting mostly reviewed the law-and-order situation in the district and the ongoing counter-insurgency operations,� Karbi Anglong Deputy Commissioner Prasanta Buragohain told the media after the meeting.

Our Tezpur Correspondent adds: A meeting of the Unified Command was held at the GOC 4 Corps here today to review the present law-and-order situation in the region.

According to information available here, the strategic group meeting was chaired by State Chief Secretary Jitesh Khosla, while the operational group meeting was chaired by General Officer Commanding 4 Corps, AK Ahuja.

The Deputy Commissioners and the SPs of all the districts, DGP Khagen Sarma, CRPF Commandant and others were present at the meeting.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi attended the meeting as a special guest.
