GUWAHATI, Jan 6 The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday called upon the Congress governments in Assam and Meghalaya to initiate the required action to bring the conflict situation on the Assam Meghalaya border under control.
BJP national vice president Bijoya Chakravorty while addressing media persons here on Thursday hinted that a third force might have been responsible for the ethnic clash between Garos and Rabhas.
Urging for peace on the border, Chakravorty demanded of the government adequate security and rehabilitation for the victims of the ethnic clash.
Meanwhile, the Co-ordination Committee of the Indigenous Tribal Sahitya Sabhas while expressing deep concern over the incident has appealed to all the peace loving people of Assam and Meghalaya to forgive and forget. The committee has however blamed both the Assam and the Meghalaya government for not taking the cue from smaller incidents preceding the flare-up and the necessary action to prevent the clash.
