State Govt employees to get 6 months� arrears

GUWAHATI, Feb 18 � The State Government today agreed to clear six months� arrear salary to its employees against their revised pay scales. This was announced by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in his meeting with the leaders of the Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad (SAKP) at his official residence this evening.

SAKP general secretary Nagen Das said that this announcement would be included in the next budget of the State. It needs mention here that the SAKP has been demanding clearance of 33 months� arrear salary to the government employees.

On the issue of regularisation of the casual, fixed pay and muster-roll employees, it was decided in the meeting that they would be paid enhanced wages until the regularisation of their posts.

The meeting also decided to extend special allowance to the heads of the ME, MV and ME Madrassa schools in line with the allowance paid to the heads of the LP, High and High Madrassa schools.

The Chief Minister directed the Chief Secretary to prepare a free medical treatment scheme for the government employees in line with the Central government scheme in this regard. On the issue of maternity leave of the women employees, the Chief Minister agreed to extend the leave period to 180 days against the existing 135 days, Das said.
