State filmmaker�s short film wins award

GUWAHATI, Oct 5 � Assam-based filmmaker Jaicheng Jai Dohutia�s documentary �Untitled� (Onamangkito) has won �Special Festival Mention Jury� award at the Indian Cine Film Festival-14� (ICFF) in Mumbai.

His film was based on a journey of a group of people under extreme hardship in the eastern part of Indo-China border for a mission, said a press release.

His other documentary film about the Moran tribe named �Chaak-Soni� was also screened during the festival.

In the festival, another feature film from Assam �Othelo� also awarded for its screenplay.

�This is a special feeling to be recognised at the national platform. This was my first major award. I am extremely grateful to all those who helped me to reach here,� Dohutia said.

Dohutia, who completed the diploma in film and video editing from Jyoti Chitraban Film and Television Institute in Guwahati, had earlier made a number of short films which include �Wings of Window,� The Urban Root and �The Blind� and also documentaries including �The 21st Century King� and �The Weaver�.

Currently he is working on several projects including acclaimed filmmaker Bobby Sharma Baruah�s �Adomya: life goes on��, Suraj Duwarah�s �Strangers in the Mist� and National Award winner M Moniram�s new film �Donda�, the release stated.
