NEW DELHI, Dec 15 - Upset with the withholding of Central funds, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and the States Congress MPs are likely to sit in a dharna in front of the Parliament House on Wednesday.

The plan to stage a demonstration in front of the Parliament House was announced earlier by the Chief Minister, who gave a deadline of 15 days to the Centre to release the funds. The Chief Minister had warned that he might stage a demonstration in front of the Parliament to protest against the lack of funds from the Centre.

Gogoi alleged that the Centre is yet to release an estimated Rs 20,000 crore due to the State, including in oil royalty arrears. He also alleged that funds from the Non-Lapsable Pool of Central Resources were also declining.

The Chief Minister today said that he is likely to sit in a demonstration accompanied by the MPs and ex-MPs. The Assam Congressmen are also planning to invite party president Sonia Gandhi to join the demonstration.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister on Tuesday seconded Congress vice president Rahul Gandhis allegation that he was prevented from visiting a Satra in Barpeta by the RSS, claiming that he had intelligence reports to prove the charge.

The Chief Minister, who landed in the Parliament House this morning, spent over an hour speaking to the media explaining the episode. Through intelligence we came to know knew about the resistance plan of the temple committee... The same priest is lying that he spoke to me also. We knew there will be resistance... We could have cleared the ladies, but it would have been bad... So we changed our plan, he said.

The BJP leaders are making false statements that we got the information about the resistance two days earlier. The DC went and spoke to the temple committee but they were reluctant. I spoke to the head priest, who said that I am not against it, but the committee is. They organised a group of women to protest. So, we even had a group of women police ready for this, he revealed.

Our intelligence has it that it is the RSS people who were doing this. We have proof... we will get it in front of the people once the enquiry is finished, Gogoi said. Only the RSS can do this because they want to divide the people, he said.

Meanwhile, Gogoi alleged that the Modi Government is trying to destabilise his government through the Assam Governor. The same thing has also started in Arunachal Pradesh also, he added.

In Assam, the BJP tried to topple my government using Himanta Biswa Sarma with the help of some MLAs. But, he was not successful, Gogoi said. He alleged that Himanta was involved in scams like the Sarada scandal. That is why he has joined the BJP, he said.
