By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Oct 24 Amidst media reports of differences among them, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhubaneswar Kalita met here along with several ministers and senior Congress leaders to discuss the partys strategies for the ensuing State Assembly polls.

The meeting was held in the official residence of the Chief Minister this afternoon and APCC general secretary Dr Haren Das asserted that there is no difference between the Government and the Congress.

Das said that the meeting discussed the approach to be adopted by the Congress in the coming polls and the partys stand on the key economic and political issues would be addressed soon. He said that the meeting decided to make all sections of people aware of the partys stand on the key issues concerning the state.

On the issue of mega dams, Das asserted that the issue was discussed and it was decided that the Government would not support any action which goes against the interests of Assam. There have been reports in favour and against construction of dams and the issues need to be examined thoroughly, he added.

The APCC general secretary asserted that the issue of election of APCC president was not discussed in the meeting. Todays meeting was not the right forum to discuss the issue. Moreover, the APCC has already authorized the AICC president Sonia Gandhi to nominate the APCC president and there is no point discussing the issue any more, he added.
