State Cabinet decisions

GUWAHATI, Feb 3 � The State Cabinet today decided to enhance monthly grade pay of third and fourth grade employees of the Government in the range of Rs 100 to Rs 500.

The Cabinet also decided to enhance the period of leave encashment benefit of the teachers to 300 days against the existing 150 days. It also accepted the report of the anomaly committee on the revised pay structures of the Government employees.

On the issue of time scale promotion, the Cabinet arrived at a decision to resolve the issue within seven days by consulting the Sadau Asom Karmachari Parishad (SAKP). For the purpose, a Cabinet sub committee headed by Dr Bhumidhar Barman has been constituted.

The sub committee will also discuss the issue of payment of arrear amounts due to the State government employees owing to the revision in their pay structures for 39 months since January, 2006, as has been demanded by the SAKP within the same time frame, said SAKP secretary general Bashab Kalita.

Kalita hailed the Cabinet decisions on the above issues , in line with the decision of the December 4, 2010 meeting of the Parishad with the Chief Minister and thanked the Cabinet for it. He also pleaded for regularization of jobs of around 9,000 muster roll, fixed pay and casual employees within the current financial year.

Meanwhile, official sources said that the Cabinet today cleared the decks for setting up of the Jyoti Bishnu Cultural University at Tezpur and passed a resolution for creation of legislative council in the state. The Cabinet also decided to keep 50 percent seats in the local bodies for women.
