State BJP to resolve local issues

GUWAHATI, May 17 � A buoyant Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh today extended its heartfelt gratitude to the people of Assam for supporting the party in a big way and said that this was a mandate against corruption and failure of the Congress.

Addressing mediapersons here today at the party head office, State BJP president Sarbananda Sonowal, who was also elected from the Lakhimpur Lok Sabha constituency, assured the electorate that the saffron party will fulfill all the promises made in its election manifesto.

�We are grateful to the people of Assam for the faith reposed on the BJP. With this mandate a great responsibility has been entrusted on us and we will definitely not let down the aspirations of the citizens,� said Sonowal adding that the vision of the party to build a progressive Assam will be realized with the cooperation of all the people of the State.

Sonowal said that inclusive development would be the topmost priority of the party and that there would be no discrimination while providing opportunities for growth to the population of the State. He said that voters crossed the barriers of caste, creed and community, came out in large numbers to support the BJP and this faith has doubly increased the responsibility of all the elected MPs. �We have to be vigilant to ensure that each citizen in the State enjoy his/her rights in an ambience of security,� said Sonowal.

Though their big win has overwhelmed the saffron party leadership in the State, they looked composed and ready to take on the responsibility of meeting the aspirations of the people. Celebrations were still on at the party head office as workers poured in from different parts of the State to enjoy the moment of victory.

�We, the elected MPs from Assam, will press for a time-frame to resolve the pertinent issues of the State, including infiltration. Many projects that were launched during the NDA regime and got stalled in the middle of implementation, will be completed now,� assured Sonowal, mentioning that it was time now to give a momentum to the progressive schemes and projects that will change the socioeconomic scenario.

Sonowal also promised that public money will be utilized for the welfare of the public. �We will bring transparency and good governance. Our effort would also be aimed at building the bridge of unity between Brahmaputra and Barak valleys and take a united Assam on the road towards progress and prosperity,� said Sonowal.
