Stagnation during Cong rule: Daimary

By Correspondent

TEZPUR, April 1 - This election is not a joke; rather it is time to take the decision to bring the BJP-AGP-BPF alliance to power by casting your votes in favour of the coalition on April 4 for the development, safety and security of the region, said Rajya Sabha member Biswajit Daimary while addressing a large election rally at the Dhekipelwa playground under Dhekiajuli LAC in Sonitpur district.

Taking part as the star campaigner for the BJP candidate from Dhekiajuli LAC, Ashok Singhal, the Rajya Sabha member said that the Dhekiajuli LAC was in the hands of an incapable public representative from the Congress for the last five years due to which developmental work has remained stagnant.

Disclosing the reason behind the break-up in the relationship with the Congress, Daimary said that through the BTC arrangement, a sea change was witnessed in the BTC area, bringing about the development of every community living within the jurisdiction of the council and the remaining works were supposed to be executed on the basis of a special roadmap.

However, this policy was rejected by the Tarun Gogoi-led State Government which irked us, he said. Criticising the ABSU and NDFB (P)s political pact with the Congress, he said that if anything is happening in the BTC or for the people living outside the BTC, that is happening only after the formation of the BTC where organisations like the ABSU or NDFB have no contribution.

Attending the programme, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary urged the common voters to wipe out the Congress party. The Congress has ruled the country for 65 years, but what has it given to the people? Due to mammoth corruption in all spheres, the country has reached such a bad state, Mohilary said, adding that if the Congress came to power again, Assam would not exist anymore because in the days to come, with the blessings of Tarun Gogoi, a fundamentalist leader like Badaruddin Ajmal would become the Chief Minister of Assam.

In the rally, BJP candidate Ashok Singhal appealed to the voters to elect him in the greater interest of the overall development of the area. The rally, conducted by local BPF worker Lenin Basumatary, besides BJP, AGP and BPF workers, was attended by several prominent persons of the area.
