GUWAHATI, Sept 26 - Host United Brothers will take on Kokrajhar Veteran XI in the inaugural match of the second All Assam Veteran Football Championship at the Judges� field here on October 2.
Additional Chief Secretary MGVK Bhanu will inaugurate the championship at 3 pm in the opening ceremony where the City Police Commissioner Mukesh Agarwal and Deputy Commissioner Kamrup (M) Rajib Prakash Baruah will also present as guests.
Altogether eight teams will vie for the crown and the teams are divided into two groups. The tournament will be played in league-cum-knock out basis.
The champion team will receive the Kanak Chandra Baruah Trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 50,000.
The participating teams are: (Gr A) United Brothers, Kokrajhar, Khanapara FC, Dakhin Bang Sewa Kendra; (Gr B) ASEB, Duliajan FC, GTC, Silchar Veterans.
